Voice Coaches Radio Halloween Special

John: [00:00:00] It was the night before Halloween and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The candy bowl was put out with care in hopes that soon GULs, goblins and ghosts would be there.
All right. Hello my friend. It's John from Voice. Coaches radio. Unfortunately here without my co-host, my partner in crime, Tina don't like to do that. So I'm not gonna number this episode, but this is a Halloween special. You got it. So it is October 31st, and. This is a Halloween special, and, and I, I did that first little thing there to show you that Halloween is a fantastic time for voiceover work.
It adds to the voiceover industry. There are haunted houses that use voice actors, uh, as well as character actors. Um, I've been to many haunted Hate [00:01:00] Rise that actually hire actors, but, uh, universal Studios, Halloween Horror Nights, for example, is well known for hiring voice actors. For their houses, right?
So they, they record some voices and they play them through the house the entire Halloween Horror Night season, which runs typically from the first week of September until the first couple days of November. So there's a lot of extra work out there right now. And so I think. Many voice actors, especially starting out, don't really consider that, right?
They don't even, maybe it doesn't even pop into their mind, hey, you know, holidays in general, but again, it's Halloween, so we're gonna talk about that. There are many opportunities during the Halloween season to do voice server work. You wanna start work looking, you wanna start looking early, right? So a lot of these, uh, haunted houses, a lot of these haunted hay rides, a lot of these events.
They start production pretty [00:02:00] darn early. So you wanna look, I would say at least three months before Halloween at least, and start looking into some of this work. Uh, and where do you look? Well, you can call some of these places. Like for example, near me, I'm in upstate New York. There is a haunted hayride.
It's one of the best in the country. Uh, about three is down from me and it is called Headless horseman. Haunted Hayride. And you could reach right out to those people and say, Hey. Uh, listen, I have a demo. Um, I'm a voice actor. Do you hire voice actors? Do you prerecord any of your content? These are the types of things you should be doing.
Uh, again, you're a voice actor, you're running a little small business, so look into these types of things. You'd be surprised how much is out there, how many opportunities you could. Reap from this holiday season. So whether you celebrate Halloween or not, I know some people this, this is, [00:03:00] you know, uh, this is the world where not everybody celebrates everything, which is awesome.
It makes us different. The fact that people in general are all different makes this world fantastic. Whether you celebrate Halloween or you do not, there is plenty of voiceover work out there, and some of it is very specific to whatever. Holiday or event. Is coming up throughout the year, so start to pay attention to that.
But again, I just wanna do something quick like that. Just maybe a little advice, something people don't think about because we're all voice actors. We all want to get work. And so anything I can do to help you out, I'm gonna do. So there we go. Uh, again, my email, John [email protected]. You wanna reach out, wanna talk, you want to chat about something, you have an idea for, uh, the podcast.
You wanna be a guest on the podcast, whatever. Lemme know. We [00:04:00] out.

John quickly touches on what Halloween means for Voice actors.
