Voice Coaches Radio Episode 719 “Client Cards”
John: [00:00:00] All right, guess what time it is. It's Voice Coaches Radio time.
Tina: It is, isn't it?
John: I'm John.
Tina: And I'm Tina.
John: And yeah, like I said, it's Voice Coaches Radio. Uh, w- t- we're gonna do something interesting today. We are going to, I got some, I got a bunch of cards. We all get them, right?
Tina: Yes, we do. I
John: bring mine home, though- Yeah, so do I
and we're at the studio, you bring yours home. Yeah, I bring mine home. But we're here, and so David gave me a bunch of his. So these are-
Tina: Yeah ...
John: postcards or cards in general- Yes ... greeting cards- Mm-hmm ... from, uh, clients or former clients.
Tina: Yes.
John: Yeah, and so, so- They're very nice ... I wanna read some of these on the air.
So ladies first, Tina. Okay. Why don't you, and just to have, you know, use the person's first and last initial, obviously.
Tina: Okay, I gotta read. I gotta be able to read the handwriting. All right, this one's printed, good. Um, this [00:01:00] is from Don F. All right. "Just a quick note to let you know that I really enjoyed the Voice Coaches program.
Um, Kelly and Warren were both great. I'm very pleased with how the demo came out. Now comes the hard part, marketing. Wish me luck. Uh, good luck with everything, and I hope to speak to get you in the future." So-
John: All right. Who was that from?
Tina: That was from Dom. Dom F.
John: Dom F. Okay. Yes. Great. All right. I want to hear this to the entire team.
Tina: Oh, yay.
John: There you go, the entire team. All right. So it s- Uh, here it goes. "Hope you like my watercolor painting." By the way, this- ... this person did this. Oh,
Tina: that's really nice.
John: Let me hold it up so... Pretty cool, right? Yeah. That's their... I guess that's theirs. I wish I could do that. So that's pretty... Yeah, that's, that's a nice little touch.
"Hope you like my watercolor painting. A description is on the back of this card. This voiceover experience has been a burst of life to me personally- Wow ... and can't wait to see where it takes me." There's more to it, so, um, "This has been an [00:02:00] exciting journey since taking John's class," oh, that's me. "Since taking John's class on May 16th.
Uh, thank you." This is last year obviously or s- at some point. Not May 16th, 'cause this, that hasn't happened yet.
Tina: We're not there.
John: Yeah. Yeah. Uh, "Thank you to each and every one of you for assistance with learning the process de- of developing a new skill. You've all been very helpful, and I am really looking forward to my demo," yeah, uh, the...
And they're gonna meet all of us in person, which this has happened already. That
Tina: has happened already. But
John: again-
Tina: Yes ... "
John: looking forward to working with the producer to create my demo and to learn the marketing process to find work," and this is from Lynn. Thank you so much. See you soon.
Tina: Yeah. Awesome.
John: From Lynn.
Tina: Well, that's really good. See, we all, we do... It's because they, Donny, Dom even mentioned too that we, yes, we ta- we bring you through the classes. Then we also he- help you say, okay, for marketing and home studio as well. Yeah. So I think a lot of people think it's just, "Here's voice acting classes. That's it."
John: Yeah,
Tina: absolutely. And we, we, we're here with you for the whole journey. So [00:03:00] this one is from Bill M. Says, uh, "Thanks for making me feel at home as I take on this new endeavor. I look forward to continuing my training."
John: Awesome. Yeah. That's great. Th- uh, short and to the point.
Tina: Yeah.
John: This one is from Sarah. I believe.
Sarah. It says, uh, "Dear David." This is to David. Uh, "Thank you so much for your time and encouragement to go ahead and chase my dreams." Oh. "I left your class truly inspired. Sincerely, Sarah."
Tina: Wow. Yeah. Here we go. That's awesome. Good one. I love that one. All right, this is from Chrissy P. Says, "I truly enjoyed your class.
Um, it was very informative and really got me thinking voice acting may be a good career for me. Thank you for the opportunity and look forward to working with you and your team." Very nice.
John: Love it. All right, this one is from Robert H. Robert H. Okay. "I appreciate the class you ran at [00:04:00] HBCC. The info on local market opportunities was exactly what I w- had been hoping for.
Thank you so much. Robert H." And it says, "Put learning into practice."
Tina: Wow. There we go. I like that. Even a little, uh, inspiration right there. Okay. Um, from Diane. Um, "It took me moving home to Utica after three years, uh, in San Diego- Oh ... to find voice coaches and the motivation and encouragement to make my demo."
Um, let me see. "I hope..." Let's see. It's har- I'm, I'm- Handwriting. Handwriting's tough ... yeah, handwriting. Yep. You
John: know? It's an item, yeah.
Tina: Um, "Grateful to you and your team." I'm gonna just go, that's the part I can read. But Diane, thank you.
John: All right. Oh, this is from Heather H. Okay. This is w- I think this is cute, so.
Yeah. "Dear Will and Marcy."
Tina: Oh.
John: Marcy is- All right, so if you don't know ... our studio dog. Yes. Yeah, she's [00:05:00] so cute. Oh, well maybe
Tina: we gonna put- The friendliest dog in the world ... we gotta have her on one of our podcasts.
John: Yes. Yeah. Definitely. She'd love it. She'd love it. She would be all over us. Yeah. She's so friendly.
Uh, uh, "Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me so early yesterday morning. I am grateful for your feedback, and left our conversation energized about my next steps."
Tina: Nice. "
John: It's been a while since I was excited about something. I look forward to meeting you both soon."
Tina: Aw. Yeah, "Sincerely, Heather H."
That's good. Love
John: it. Oh, that's, yeah. Love it. That's
Tina: really good. I really like that. Yeah. And, and- See ya, Shell ... you'll love Marcy. Uh, she's the best. Oh, she's great.
John: She's so good. So I always say there's some dogs you just like even if you don't... Yeah. You know, like, some people don't like dogs- No, I know ... but there's some dogs you like no matter what.
Tina: Yep. And she's one of those.
John: She is definitely. Yes. Um, oh, is that it? Yep,
Tina: that's it for me.
John: Hold on. Let me give you another one then. Hold on. Here you go. Oh. Did, did I read this one yet? No, I didn't read this. No.
Tina: All right.
John: Take that one.
Tina: Oh. Ooh, uh, from Portland, Oregon. There you go. Oh, my goodness. All right.
This is from Anne. "What a blast it was to attend the [00:06:00] Intro to a Voiceover with you. Um- She goes, "I was not kidding about this work being something that I always, have always dreamed of doing," and she put that in quotations. "Your direction, humor, and information was just what I needed to get started. Thank you."
I love that.
John: Nice. Uh, all right. This one is, "Thank you so much for your time and feedback." And this is to Will. "Thank you so much for your time and feedback, and I really appreciate your wisdom and guidance. Sincerely..." Did I read this already? Is this Sarah too? I don't- Oh, you know what? Sarah sent multiple.
Okay, so-
Tina: Oh, that was nice of her. Yeah ...
John: yeah, so that was multiple, so two different people. So,
Tina: yeah.
John: And I, and I know it because the way, uh, she wrote Sarah- I could not read. Uh, I- Will had to tell me.
Tina: Oh.
John: I said, "What does that say?" And it, it was the same signature. There it is. Yeah, definitely. Okay. Uh, well that's the one I just read.
Yeah. Where's the other one? There's another one that I was like, "I don't know what this says at the end." I think it was two Sarahs in here. Or did I read it and just read it again twice for no [00:07:00] reason? Yeah, I must have read it twice. All right. All
Tina: right.
John: There you go. Uh, that was from Sarah. Yeah.
Tina: No, it, it's, it's really...
I, I love when I get the, just the- I know ... little notes, you know, just to, just of the thank yous, and, and, you know, just talking about our experience together, and, um, I love that. Just love that. I, I
John: think it's great. Th- this is like, this for us, like we talked on a- Mm-hmm ... prior episode about support, right?
Yeah. And this for us is fulfilling, right? You get-
Tina: Yes ...
John: you get these people who we have helped them- Mm-hmm ... achieve their dreams, or achieve something they really love, which is- Yes ... so awesome. It makes the job, like the coaching part of it- Yes ... totally worth it.
Tina: Yeah.
John: Right? Because these are people that, um, really wanted to do this.
They- Yeah ... didn't have a direction yet. They didn't know how to get into it, and-
Tina: Mm-hmm ...
John: uh, they found us, we found them, however it happened, and-
Tina: Yeah ...
John: and, uh, we really helped them out, and- Yeah ... it
Tina: feels good. Oh, it absolutely. I, I love how we do it, 'cause I think a lot of people think it's like a classroom, you know, like if you were going- Yeah
into- Right, right, right ... No, it's one on one. One on one. One on one. And so you do get to know. You know, we're not, we're [00:08:00] not together, uh, for a lot of classes- Mm-hmm ... but when you're in there for an hour with someone, you know, you get to know them. Yeah, yeah. And I really, I enjoy it, and especially when people are from all over.
John: Exactly.
Tina: That's, that's the, that's the best, but getting these notes, that's always the best. I love that.
John: You become part of the Voice Coach's family.
Tina: Yes, absolutely. Yeah, it
John: really is. Yeah. Isn't it? Yeah. And we... And, and again, one of the things that I, I always try to express to people who are looking into- Mm-hmm
you know, coming into our program, is we offer lifetime support.
Tina: Yes, we do.
John: You know? Just because you've completed the program part of it- Mm-hmm ... doesn't mean we're like, "All right, see ya." Yeah,
Tina: yeah.
John: We encourage people to keep in contact. If you need advice, if you need help- Mm-hmm ... contact us. So-
Tina: Oh, absolutely.
For anything. I had, I had a student, I, I think, um, maybe she did her demo like six months ago, and she's finally getting everything kind of now moving forward, and so talk in regards to, uh, doing this at home, and learning how to do. She called up and she said, "I got questions about, um, you know, running this program, and how to record my voice, and the levels, and this and that."
They set up a Zoom. I did a [00:09:00] Zoom with her. She showed me her screen and I showed her my screen, and we went through them. I walked her right through it. That's
John: awesome.
Tina: So this was four or five months after the demo.
John: Yeah.
Tina: And we even have years after the demo. Yes. You got questions, we're here for you.
John: Absolutely. Yeah. We want you to be successful.
Tina: Yes, we do.
John: We want you to, to, to achieve what you wanna achieve. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. So that's great. Um, cool. So th- that's, um- I feel like we're forgetting something. Oh, you know what? I forget this all the time- Mm-hmm ... so I'll just mention it again. Uh, if you wanna be like these people, you wanna be, you wanna-
Tina: Yes
John: m- move forward with something, uh, voiceovers- Mm ... in particular, uh, my webinar. Yeah. I have an intro to voice acting webinar. Mm-hmm. Uh, go to our website, voicecoaches.com. Uh, and you, we have a ticketing platform there you can sign up for. Uh, if you use the code POD, P-O-D- Yeah ... you'll get 50% off whatever the ticket price is.
Mm-hmm. But you get to meet me. Yes. And, and you'll learn, it's an intro to voice acting. You'll learn quite a bit. Uh, I have people say that I really pack that time- Mm-hmm ... with a lot of information, and I- Yeah ... I try to. And I take questions, of course. And [00:10:00] also, at the end, if you wanna- Mm-hmm ... stick around, give people an opportunity who wanna do this, stick around at the end, and I'll have people read to me, you get some feedback.
Tina: Yeah, which is, which is a good idea, 'cause a lot of people take the webinar 'cause they have no idea what, what it's all about. Yeah. You're gonna tell them.
John: Right. Yeah. Right. And this is for people, if you're in the program- Mm ... we have lots of other things. Oh, yeah. This, this is intro to voice acting. This is for people- Mm-hmm
who have not went through our program yet, who have not yet- Mm-hmm ... you know, um, started taking steps towards voiceovers. Uh, because this is intro, right? Yeah. It's an intro to voice acting. But for those of you who, by the way, for those of you who are in a program- Mm ... or have taken our program, we have lots of other, uh, really cool specialty-
Tina: Yes, we do
John: live events- Yes. Mm-hmm ... that you can do, like Zoom events. Mm-hmm. So you should check your, check your, um-
Tina: The events tab, yeah.
John: The events tab.
Tina: Yep, right on the portal is- On
John: your, your client page. Yep. Yeah. Yep. And you're gonna see 'em. Yeah. And there's some really cool ones.
Tina: There is really. We've got, uh, audiobook ones.
We even have marketing ones as well. That's great. So yeah, just extra classes. Home
John: recording we've done, I think.
Tina: Yeah. Yeah.
John: And there's, uh, a, a lot of questions about that.
Tina: Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A lot of questions about that.
John: We have a home recording part of our [00:11:00] program too- Mm-hmm ... but it's, you know, sometimes you want some more advanced.
Yes,
Tina: yeah.
John: You know?
Tina: Mm-hmm.
John: Awesome. Well, listen, thank you very much for watching. Uh, watching, listening. Not watching. I, you know, listening. You know, I don't- We
Tina: just appreciate you.
John: I guess I'll thank you for watching, but, you know, uh, anyway. Yeah. Thank you for listening especially. Yes. And again, I am John G.
