Voice Overs of the World: Happy Birthday, LEGO!

Posted 3:56 pm by team

The beloved children’s toy company LEGO turns 80 years old this year, and to celebrate, they’ve put together a really cool animated video telling the story of the company from its humble beginnings as a woodworker’s toy company to the household name they are today.

There are a lot of really interesting things about this video. First of all, even though the narrator is supposed to be the current owner of the company, for the American audiences, the short film was redubbed using an all-American voice cast. You’ll also notice (if you watch the end credits), that while there are five or six principal voice actors, most of them also played multiple parts, which is very common in the world of animation.

It’s also interesting to note that, once again, we have to thank the internet for the availability of this kind of voice over project for the talent involved. This is a 15-minute short film about the history of a popular company, but it’s not long enough to air as a TV special, and it’s way too long to air as a commercial. Where else would this kind of content fit if not for the internet? It goes to show how many great VO jobs have come about due to the rise of the world wide web.

Were you as charmed by the LEGO story as we were?
