Voice Overs of the World: NASAformers!

Posted 8:17 pm by team

You’ve gotta hand it to NASA. They don’t really do a lot of advertising, but when they do, they knock it out of the park. This newest advertisement from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration combines some amazing footage with a terrific script voiced by none other than Optimus Prime himself, Peter Cullen.

What’s interesting about this ad is not just how effective it is at evoking a sense of wonder and awe, but also that Cullen is clearly using his Optimus Prime voice here. I’ve heard Cullen speak in interviews before, and he actually doesn’t sound much like Optimus Prime at all; it’s definitely a character voice he puts on.

But when three Transformers movies make a couple of billion dollars at the box office, it makes sense that NASA might want to tap into that a bit. So here we have an ad talking about both the history and the future of exploration with the voice of the most revered and respected Transformer leader at the forefront. Pretty cool, no?
