VO Behind-The-Scenes: The Video Game King

Posted 1:14 pm by team

Our friends over at the Playstation Blog have posted a great new interview with Nolan North, one of the most prolific voice actors working today. Haven’t heard of him? Well, if you don’t play a lot of video games, that’s not entirely surprising.

Basically, Nolan North is THE go-to voice for video game developers. And we’re not talking background voices here, either. Nolan North is usually the lead character or part of an ensemble of main characters. Even if you’re not an avid game player, see if a few of these popular video game names ring a bell: The Cat in the Hat, The Punisher, Everquest, Area 51, S.W.A.T., God of War, Predator, The Incredible Hulk, Dungeons & Dragons, Spongebob Squarepants, Call of Duty, 24, The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Syphon Filter, Pixar’s Cars, The Sopranos, Ratchet & Clank, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man, Halo, Power Rangers, The Golden Compass, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, Metal Gear Solid, The Princess Bride, SOCOM, James Bond 007, CSI, Watchmen, Prince of Persia, Terminator, X-Men, and Avatar. WHEW!

And that’s just a PARTIAL list of Mr. Nolan’s credits. If I were to add in all of his other gaming and animation credits, we’d be here all day. Gaming fan or not, this is a really great interview with one of the industry’s pre-eminent voice talents. Not only is Mr. North personable and entertaining, he’s extremely informative about working in the voice over industry nowadays. Check out the video above for some terrific insights on what it’s like to be at the top of the voice over game!
