Sad news this weekend as it was reported that actor John Forsythe had passed away at the age of 92. Mr. Forsythe, in addition to being an accomplished and award-winning television and film actor, was also a terrific voice actor. His best known voice acting was, of course, as the always-heard but never seen Charlie in Charlie’s Angels, which he describes below as, “the best and easiest job any actor could have.”
In addition to portraying Charlie, Mr. Forsythe also lent his voice to the animated film We Wish You A Merry Christmas and the Gargoyles cartoon series, and he narrated several television documentaries, including one on tennis called The Kings of the Court and two horse racing documentaries called Spirit of a Champion: The Story of the 1990 Breeders’ Cup and Champions in Kentucky: The Story of the 1988 Breeders’ Cup.
Mr. Forsythe was probably best remembered for his role in the hit series Dynasty as Blake Carrington, where he worked alongside one of Voice Coaches former students: actor John James. Another co-star of Mr. Forsythe’s, Kate Jackson, said the following in a statement: “John was a consummate professional. He was elegant and kind to everyone. He was the voice of Charlie, and when he called, the angels were always happy to answer. I miss him, and I miss knowing that he is here. If there is a heaven, I know that’s where he is now.”
Rest in Peace, John.
