Dr. Don to the Rescue

Dr. Don to the Rescue
In November of 2006, our production team was commissioned to produce a series of commercials for an organization that presents major trade shows for the home building industry across the country.

The organization’s executives were most concerned that the commercials that we would create should have family appeal and that the voice over work should be exceptional. Producer and Voice Coaches President, David Bourgeois, decided that instead of casting one talent to handle the voice over duties, he would cast three: an adult male, an adult female, and a child.

All recordings went very well, particularly child voice over artist Iain Bopp who had recently completed voice over training with us at Voice Coaches.

The client, however, still wanted to add a nostalgic feel so we decided it was time to call the “Doctor”, our own Client Services Director, Dr Don Bowers. In addition to Don’s work with Voice Coaches, he is a career radio broadcaster with a strong “classic announcer” voice style.

“I caught up with Don on his lunch break, put him on the mic, and 5 minutes later the client was absolutely blown away” commented producer David Bourgeois. “I actually sometimes forget how much talent we have right here on our own team. Don not only has long-term voice over experience as a radio broadcaster, he has continued to develop skill through a range of voice over training,” added Bourgeois.
